Forklift Training Entry Requirements

Open Training for Forklift Courses Most forklift courses are open to a wide range of candidates.

Minimum Age

To participate in forklift training you must be at least 16 years old; many employers require candidates to be at least 18 years old.

Medical and Physical Fitness

You must have adequate vision, hearing and mobility to safely use a forklift truck. A simple eye test would be required at a suitable level. If you have a medical condition, it is advisable to inform your training provider in advance as some medical conditions could affect safe operation of a forklift truck.

Literacy and Numeracy

To enable you to complete the written assessment/safety briefing within the course(s) delivered you will require adequate literacy and numeracy skills. If English is not your first language please advise the training provider in advance.

No Driving Licence Required

Note: You don’t need a full car driving license to do a forklift training course.

What to Bring on Day One

PPE required for forklift training courses: steel-toecap boots minimum, and any other required safety wear.
